Every year, we host the annual New London Piano Festival at the beautiful campus of Connecticut College Cummings Art Center. It is a wonderful motivator for students to achieve a level higher than they were the previous year. They must perform two pieces memorized, one from a syllabus and another of choice in original form. This year, we had a total of 90 students participating with 7 teachers represented. Students who obtain a score of 15 points (accumulated over the course of several years) receive a gold cup. We had 20 student receive a Gold Cup this year!
A huge thank you to the fantastic judges, Donald Alfano, Tamila Azadaliyeva, Jenny Ong and Sharon Girard for their hard work and compliments! Oxana Lauria, our Piano Festival Chair and Vice-President of the Middlesex New London Music Teachers Association did a beautiful job organizing and leading this great event.
